Idolatry

Five short-ish stories about death, the savagery of desire, and the process of abandoning one god for another. Readers looking for trigger warnings should probably read something else.

Contrasts (~10 pages) follows a specific kind of person as they acquire a specific kind of service.

Nyarlathotep (~50 pages) is the title of a short story written by HP Lovecraft, who is considered by many the inventor of cosmic horror as a genre. In this story (you are welcome to read it, it is about three pages long and in my opinion worth reading for historical context alone) the author asks a very interesting question, but as a reader I wasn’t quite satisfied with the answer. In my endless hubris, I attempted to provide a better one, here. Let me know how I did.

Judges (~40 pages) is my probably my favorite piece of writing on this website, but it is also written in Biblical English (KJV) and so the hardest to read. In the Old Testament, Judges were warlords turned governors, blessed by God with magical power so they could rule over Cna’an. The story follows Yehushafat, a former judge, as events force him to reconcile the nature of his power.

Raven and Wolf (~12 pages) is the sweetest story I ever wrote, about a fight between two lovers.

Gortox (~16 pages) is a crossbreed between a fantasy story and a scientific paper, if it were written by the only sentient creature in the universe.
